Red Global MX UK recently had the opportunity to connect with Mr. Raúl Torres, a Migrant Congressman representing Mexicans living abroad. The meeting, held in London on the 4th of November, focused on Mr. Torres’ work to promote the economic and social empowerment of the Mexican diaspora in Europe.
During the meeting, RGMX-UK and Mr. Torres discussed the specific needs of the Mexican community in the UK and explored ways to maximise the services available through the migrant deputation. Mr. Torres’ involvement in key commissions within the Congress of Mexico City, such as Culture, Education, Science and Technology, and Economic Development, strongly aligns with the interests of many RGMX-UK members.
Mr. Torres also shared valuable information about recent legislative developments that benefit Mexicans living abroad. Notably, many procedures can now be completed remotely using digital tools. In Mexico City, the LLAVE account allows individuals to verify their digital identity and access services offered by Public Administration and Mayors’ Offices. These services include signing contracts remotely, participating in virtual court trials, establishing and operating cooperative societies, and filing complaints with the Prosecutor’s Office.
RGMX-UK and Mr. Torres agreed to maintain ongoing communication on topics of mutual interest and plan to schedule a meeting in 2025 that will include RGMX-UK members.
